ABOUT US
ALL ABOUT US

The Log Cabin Club holds monthly meetings and its socials are open to members, guests, and friends. Historically, the chapter is one of the few in the United States that is dual chartered by the LCR National Board of Directors and an officially recognized State Republican Party. For information call (954) LCR-1995 or revisit this web site for a broader insight into the nature and current activities of the club.

The Broward LCR Florida Purpose and Motto

The GOP 1999 State-chartered Broward Log Cabin Club of Florida (BLCCF) was founded in 1990 by Ed Bieler of Fort Lauderdale as a civic and political opportunity for egalitarians supportive of inclusion.

Inclusive Republicans
We are loyal Republicans. We believe in low taxes, limited government, strong defense, free markets, a balanced budget, long-range national debt satisfaction, fiscal accountability and credibility, personal responsibility and individual liberty. Polls show one-third of gay and lesbian voters support fair-minded Republican candidates. We represent an important part of the American family speaking up as a powerful conservative voice for fairness.

Our Stand on Issues
Broward Log Cabin Republicans are dedicated to upholding our Constitutional precepts, which guarantee all women and men equality of access, participation, and rights under the law. Socially, we are focused on a strong and continued AIDS funding commitment, and inclusion, not exclusion in the public arena. On the local and state level, we support domestic partnership rights in times of sickness and death, and the lifting of the Florida ban against gay adoption. On the Federal level, we advocate the inclusion of sexual orientation in hate crimes legislation, the repeal of DOMA, and the lifting of “Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell” in the military service. We are against the proposed discriminatory Federal Marriage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Making A Difference
The grassroots members and friends of Broward Log Cabin educate other Republicans about the importance of fairness for all Americans. We also lobby local, state, and federal lawmakers about the critical issues affecting our community. We are strongly committed to the concept that our elected representative must earn our votes, not just expect them. We use our time and money to help elect our inclusive Republican allies to public office.

Speaking Out
The Republican Party has made important strides toward inclusion, but there is still a long way to go. There are many that are not accepting of gay and lesbian civil rights. Broward Log Cabin confronts bigotry head-on as we join the majority of Republicans who believe inclusion wins.

Reaching Out
Broward Log Cabin is building strong ties with other gay and lesbian clubs and organizations. To continue making progress, we must set differences on those issues where we can find common ground. Achieving total equality will take decades longer unless our community has strong allies in both parties

Our Motto
AWARENESS THROUGH EDUCATION, RESPONSIBILITY THROUGH INVOLVEMENT
